12valve porting... in progress?

where are you guys getting the needed de-buring tools and sanding material? I need to find a place online as I can't find a good source up here in Ontario other than real short stuff.

Ryan

As mentioned above Summit Racing and also Goodson.... Summit pricing is a little better. Also Summit has the long mandrels to use wit the 1" long abrasive scrolls. And I also have the long burrs from Summit....

:Cheer:

Finally got back at it...... ruffed in the intakes today. It seems that most of the information found on porting the Cummins 12 valve revolves around the exhaust ports... not much information about the intakes?

Those are some of the pictures I used when porting my head. I ended up doing some more work in the bowls around the guides after talking with a friend who has been working on engines for longer than I have been alive. I ended up going a little more extreme then I planned, but it turned out good.

Theres a few pics in my gallery of a cylinder head I did if u need to view it for reference....

Hows that metal taste!!!

Looking good , you can take the guide down just shy of the floor leave a 1/4 " or so you can still have room to work the swirl. Carefull around the push rod area the wall gets a little thin. We get all grinding equipment from goodson we use 8' & 6" burrs then 80 grit tootsie roll's then 120. Shoot me a e-mail addy here or in a PM and I send you some pics.

This is were I ended up.... I was able to get pretty far down the intakes with the 6" mandrels. I'm sure that I could have taken this job a little farther, but being it was my first Cummins port job I chose to be a bit cautious rather than scrap a head to a woops!

Before I do another head, I would like to get a hold of a scrap head that I can cut up to get a good look at where the thin areas are! So till then...

Do a search on Severance Tool. They are located in Downsview(toronto). They will have everything you need. -Curtis
