I've been working on a local truck trying to max out the HX35 that has a 62mm BAE compressor wheel and cover on the stock hot side.

The owner decided to install some comp cut delivery valves hours before the race so I didn't get a chance to help tune out the smoke.

1.98 60' time on stock suspension with open rear diff and drag slicks. No water in the box for a good burnout on street legal night, track conditions were average for a street legal night, poor compared to an organized event.

Specs on the truck:
1997 12 valve with original 180 HP pump
Rack Plug
Modified AFC
Racked Barrels
Comp Cut Delivery Valves
5x.012" 155* VCO injectors
22* injection timing
Single Stage Water Injection on a toggle switch
Single Stage Nitrous old NOS solenoid with 750 psi bottle pressure so maybe a 40-50 shot, just enough to help it spool up with the poor afc tuning.

I hit the juice right off the line till about 330', then hit it again after the over drive shift to get it back fully spooled for a second or two.

Truck maxes at 40psi with everything set to kill, water-on, spraying nitrous.

Wow I bet that thing is torquey and fun to drive... Nicely done!

I think it would run faster if the delivery valves were down sized or the afc was dialed back some to get rid of all that late fueling.

Here's a softer launch where the fueling came in way ahead of the air and it ran much slower the first half of the track:

He injured the head gasket last night on his 4th and final pass. I told him to do a re-torque but he chose to add more fuel via comp cut delivery valves instead.

Gasket blew right between #4 & #5 on the passenger side, nice trickle of coolant running down the block. I'll be curious to see what the o-ring looks like on that cylinder.

His block was o-ringed?

Yes, isky tool and then a new Fel Pro Autozone head gasket. He had a mishap overtorqing the stock headbolts and one of them broke, forcing him to pull the head to retrieve the bolt fragment. While he was in there, he ran the Isky tool around the bores and added an o-ring. I trained him on the first cylinder and let him finish the repair on his own.

What's done to the trans?

The owner is local to me, so I built the 47re 2wd transmission, it has about $2,300 in parts and should be good till the stock output or intermediate shafts break somewhere in the 800-1000 hp range.

Pretty Standard Transmission:

Precision Industries Billet Input
DPC Triple Disk Converter
DPC flex plate insert (just a cut stock flexplate to double up the center web section)
Sonnax low/reverse servo cover
Billet Accumulator
Sonnax 2nd servo cover
Billet 4.2 lever, strut, and anchor
Kevlar Flex Band
6 clutch direct/3rd gear setup with drum feed and evacuation mods
48re overdrive brake clutch setup
Case lube mods
Modified Transgo TFOD-HD2 shift kit
New electronics
