how smokey would my truck be with 150's and the hx35? i plan on upgrading the turbo but it wont be for another year or less because money needs to go else where right now. if i got 150's would i not be able to run my edge timing turned up and fueling turned down on it? would i be better off to run 100's and be able to turn the box up then upgrade inj later? would i make more power with the 150's and box turned down or the 100's and the box turned up? if anyone has video's they would help too.
 
I had 150s the ho vp amd a good tune from Jim Jessup and dynoed 400hp 888tq drove it like that for 3 years or longer no lift pump no cai nothing but a good clutch ran great was a little smoky but cleared up
 
I have 6x.013's (which i assume are something like a 200-250hp injector). I no longer have my edge but when i had it, it was very smokey down low with the edge on. I have a stock turbo and once it spooled, (which took half a second) it would almost completely clear it up. Still at steady haze at WOT but nothing crazy. One way or another i think your stock turbo will not hold on to long, maybe it will. But i would just go ahead and get the 150hp injectors so down the road u don't regret getting small injectors. Trust me i went threw the same thing. 100hp injectors aint much more than stock. If i where you i would get something bigger than a 150 and just get it over with.
 
Yes it will be smoky, hot, and push the limits of your hx35. Keep your box turned down until you get more air.
 
your good to go....iv done multiple setups like this, smokey when lining up or full throttle take off....but when turbo lights it clears very well.....like any other setup you do no matter what you always want to keep alil eye on egts but you should be alright...hx is good for it...alil small but still holds its own...i run my hx to 45+ psi and still clears the smoke...(and for the turbo mapping gents and ladies out there, yes i know an hx mapping is good to about 35 psi and anything after that is just abunch of hot air..just saying)
 
i just dont want to get tickets for smoke that i cant control.

Than don't drive like an a$$hole if you know you are in an area where there are police, only turn your edge on to do a pull then turn it off or down to level 1 for cruising around
 
so if i could get a hx35/40 for around $300 would that be worth getting and help to clear up the 150's a little until i can spend $1500 on a good turbo?

if you are talking about the cheap ebay hybrids stay away from them, i popped one and the second one when i took it off had a good bit shaft play, and i only ran it for about 4 months, and also once past 30 pounds they sound like they are going to fly apart
 
your turbo will have a short life. CPP 150's on my friends 24v with some hot unlock edge tuning **** ate his stock turbo in 3 weeks.

I know exactly what your asking... It's the typical how long will my chit last at the limits of what it was made for and can I possibly control my right foot enough to keep down on the smoke? Am I on to something?
 
not really. i could careless if the turbo blows up. that just means i have to get my turbo sooner right? haha. its not that i dont have the money for one, i have put a motor in my boat and my gsxr1000 i race spun #3 rod bearing. so i am wanting to get them fixed before i buy a charger. but if the charger blows up or i need one i will buy one.
 
Let me know how that works out when little pieces of pretty metal end up in the tops of the pistons from said charger "coming from together"
