extremely fragile? Im not sure what you mean by that, but they arent "fragile" in my opinion.

He doesnt need an aftermarket remote start because they come from the factory with remote start.......

PCI? no. thats chrysler. GM's are Class 2 (J1850) or GMLAN.

Hmmm whats Your address I will send you the Bill for the $900.00 GM charges (NEW ECM) because our scan tool somehow ruin the communication for the IC, By the way almost all domestic vehicles use (J1850 later models CAN) By the way how many years Has GM had that POS IC?
