I have a 2001 24v that has an oil leak at the front of the motor I haven't been able to see exactly where it is coming from but it hits the fan and covers everything up front. I was just wondering what common leaks are here I know my buddies has a leak that is pretty much the same any help would be appreciated I'm new to the cummins

the breather on the front cover and the front main seal along with the front cover are places to check. i know the breather is common to break and it leaks oil some and the main seal will wear out and leak onto the end of the crank shaft and that will sling it around.

IV been told front main seal before I hope that is it its not that expensive to fix I was just seeing if there were any other possible spots a guy at a shop told me there was a place behind the power steering pump that they have been finding and its pretty expensive fix or so he said I will be taking it to beans sometime soon to get it fixed

depending on your front cover the KDP could have got ya. i have seen the studs come out of the injection pumps, p/s pumps, and the actual seal between the v/p and p/s pump leak oil. heard stories and seen pics of the front case's being broke by the KDP leaking oil. front main seals arent bad to replace when you get it off make sure you check the crank cause you may need the seal with the speedy sleeve.

makes a mess, watched my oil pressure drop to zero jumped out opened the hood... oooppps played too hard.

When the afc came loose on my pump. my brother had the same issue. It started to flutter then went to 0.

My truck is holding a little over 40 on oil pressure IV been keeping a close eye on that

What is everything up front? Up high on the engine? Just down low? Only thing Ive personally seen make oil hit the fan and get blown back on everything is a blown head gasket. The crank seal and front cover seals will just weap and make a mess of the underside. Just because you have oil pressure doesnt mean its not the head gasket.

for the most part it is more down low there is a little on the top part but not near as bad as down low all the steering and axle get it the most

The front seal kit with quick sleave is around $110 from Cummins. I managed to get a bad one and they just swapped it out for me. PM me and I will get you the number to Cummins Power South.

when my head gasket when it soaked everything back to the transfer case

Call Jeff at Mumau diesel. Hes a vendor on here. Doubt you need a sleeve on the crank nose. Cummins crank seal is under $40

Mine had a killer leak. It turned out to be a combination of the breather bottle getting a hole in the bottom and the water pump started leaking at the same time. Looked like a massive oil leak, but was just the coolant hitting the other oil. Now if i could make the front cover stop seeping i might have a clean driveway again
