only thing that has to be done is the rear drive shaft has to be shortened by like 2-3 inches

the output shaft from the 47re and 48re are the same it is just the output shaft of the 271 is almost twice the size of the 241

the front drive shaft is the same and does not have to be swapped out.

I stand corrected, thought the flange was either farther forward or back.

the 271 flange for the front drive shaft sits like 1/4 to 1/2 inch farther back than the 241 but the front drive shaft will extend to the needed length with out having to swap shafts

the out put shaft of the auto and the manual transmissions are different sizes so for this one to fit a nv4500 you would have to change the input shaft of the transfer case to make it work.
