271 transfer case

I will be at the TS event in Kentucky in May and i can deliver this to anyone there!

What do i have to change for this to work with an NV4500?
thanks

you have to change the input shaft in the transfer case. the output of the auto and manual transmissions are a different size.

Can anybody tell me the difference in the DHD and the DLD? And will the DLD hold..... Say 550-600 hp ?

The DHD and the DLD have different size output shafts - the DHD has the larger one. I know a guy running a DLD that has that much power (if not more) and pulls with it a lot.

10-4 My truck has the DLD but I have a DHD located near by. I guess I`ll just run the DLD untill it goes boom. Thanks for the info. But as far as internals they are the same Right?

DHD's have the PTO take off on them too, so the internals are not the same do to the added PTO gear and the larger shaft.

the DLD usually breaks the output shaft where it comes out of the last bearing to support it. mine was broken cleaner than you could cut it with a bandsaw and resulted in no other carnage, but be careful, if you break one sled pulling with 500+ hp and it sends the full power to the front wheels instantly you could be in for a bunch more carnage.

Yea guess thats right, hadn`t thought about all the ponies going to the front wheels. This DHD that I have located is out of a 00-01 can`t remember. The truck has a V-10 with auto (3500) . The truck is in a salvage yard. Should this work in my 99 Cummins Auto? (2500)

241DHD is same size shaft as the 271 I believe.

and yes that should work as long as both trucks are automatics. make sure when you go to the salvage yard you get the slip yoke for the driveshaft too.
