not that i can tell, roachie. it will go into 4lo,2h,and N, hell, ive been drivin it, but if i go to pull the lever back to 4hi it doesnt budge at all. im kinda lost as to what i should try doing.
That big nut only holds a bullet looking piece and a spring. I am doubtful that is causing your problem. You can see the detent at the bottom of this picture. I think the shift plat is in the neutral position right now. If it shifted 2 places clockwise it would be in 4hi.
When you shift into 4lo does it actually go into 4wd? or just low range? The only thing I can think of is something is preventing the 4wd shift collar from moving. But if it goes into 4wd when you shift into 4lo that kind of nixes that. It would have to be something that stops the shift plate from moving into the 4hi slot.
Did it start doing this out of the blue or did you change something and it started doing it after?
Had another thought but was too late to edit my post. You could try and pull the detent and the electrical switch on the top to see if that helps your problem. I don't think it will do much but it is something easy to try and worth a shot. When you pull the detent out you will probably lose some of your fluid.
That has to be something in the linkage/plate. 4wd shifts the same in high and low, low just engages the planteries in addition to the front contention.
I was thinking more along the lines of does it move the 4wd shift collar when it shifts into low range. Does the front drive shaft turn when in low range?
But I would say the linkage or plate would be the most likely.
well i tried all the easy stuff yesterday but nothin worked, gonna have to pull the case down. hopefully its not too bad once i get into it. hope its not a shift fork.
