the ONLY proven box out there that will give you 4000rpms is the REDLINE period. as far as horror stories go, only problem i have had is a blown fuse as well and this box kicks arse. smarty will have a rpm tune just not as of yet. as far as the grantelli goes, i think thats a fluke by far. i to have heard rumors about the quad box but no proof. hope this helps.
I invite you to call Floor-it and ask John Isaacs about my runs over 4k. Name is J.D. Flory, the kid with the silver '01. phone # is on flooritdiesel.com
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the box is what makes this happen. It could just be a total freak thing on my truck. We are trying to test on another truck for more results. Have you tried every box out there? Tell me you've seen a truck dyno with a Granatelli box and didn't get near 4k. Don't just write things off because there out of the norm. Guess I should have just bought a Drag Comp and been satisfied like every one else????
If I saw a guy post 4k on some unknown cheap box I would question it, too so don't take this the wrong way.
I was in the shop when Marco was doing testing on a ton of cr trucks and a few VP trucks and he is working on some new stuff, but the key to rpm's is in the TPS tap. Don't know if a downloader can do much with that.

Yes i'm running a reman that was put on 99,000!!!! Perfect time for one to out. LOL. I havent been on the dyno since I put the redline on. I do have a set 240hp (MAch 8's) for sale if you are interested. I bought a 97 twin turbo truck so my wife said I have to sell one so the 24 valve has to go. Redline is for sale as well. Always in the maket to do some trading if you have anything I might need. Throw me a PM

Are you running a stock VP? Redline claims 160hp, what are your results? In the market for Mach 7's & yeah truck pullin is the idea. Probably need water with my little 64.

i never said your truck didnt make 4k rpms. i said i think the granatelli box is a fluke thing or your truck is just a fluke thing. a few others on here have used that box and no reports of 4k rpms. re read my post, i said the ONLY PROVEN box that will do it is the redline. cant wait to see what the smarty offers. i dont think 4k has anything to do with the tps tap but i could be wrong. the TST box does not tap that and it will give ya 3500 rpms no proble.

Not trying to step on toes inline6.
I just took your post wrong, I thought you were refering to my claim of 4k as being a fluke. If it is just my truck being freaky, I like it.:hump:

Was just planning on retorqued head bolts and 50-55psi.

Not a puller, just want to keep Goodyear's sales up.:hehe:

DD clutch is out of $$ range, and have a new Con FE on the way. HTT is what I was thinking, too.

I retorqued my 12mm ARP head studs 10 times at 140lbs. To my knowledge, HO trucks can blow HGs at lower boost levels. How much did you pay for your ConFe? How much for the redline?

Mustang Dyno results 480hp @ 1106ft lbs. My 64/71-14 comes on a little slow. No waste gate, blew 3 head gaskets at 52lbs. HTT makes a 64/13 that I have heard nothing but good things about, without o-rings waste gate at 45 psi. Your Con FE will not hold that power. Double disc is required.

A con FE should be able to hold that with ease seeing as how it's rated at 500-550hp. Heck, I've seen OFE's hold up to 500+.

What the ratings are, and what is real life are two different things. I could be wrong, but for the money why chance it.

I called and canceled my Con Fe. Going with a DD instead. Do it right the first time. From what I've heard 450-500hp with mild abuse is to much for a Con Fe. 500 is were the line should be drawn for daily driving. Some guys seem to get away with more, but everything I touch usually turns to shat, so I tend to overdo as much as possible.

The only reason I would get a dual disk over an FE for under 600hp is driveability. That's it. I've been around WAY to many OFE's that were holding up to well over their rated limits with no issues and the FE's I've been around have never slipped. Peter builds a helluva clutch and IMO underrates them. I would have no problem running an FE at 550hp assuming I had a stick. I know of an OFE on a truck with b1/b2 twins, drag comp, 200+hp injectors, smarty, and meth that is holding up perfectly well. To say an FE is limited to 500hp is severely underestimating the holding power of it. Now driveability, that's a different story. But as for pure holding power, as long as you aren't doing boosted launches or sled pulling I wouldn't hesitate with an FE.

Dieseljunkie said he was sledpulling with this truck.
I wouldn't sled pull with less than a DD clutch.
Go ahead with a Fe if you want, but I wouldn't.
Just my 0.02

i do sledpull my truck, and a DD is not as easy on the street, but its a truck and we are men. If your wife drives it then maybe the FE is abetter choice. If not why risk it, i mean we dont build 500hp trucks to take it easy on them. just my opinion.

Ahh. I missed the part where he said he was sled pulling. If that's the case then I definiately recommend the dual disk over the single.

And yes we are men but dang it I don't like driving a truck that is a pain. I drive mine on the street to much to deal with a picky clutch. Guess that's why I have an auto. LOL

I'm running an Fe and it holds my abuse but is a grabby sob. Now as for boxes running 4000+ I want to see what the new quad box does.

X2 on the quad box!
It sounds like the best of all worlds in one package.
Now if I can explain to my wife why my old box isn't good enough....

Did you have your Smarty in a stack with the Granatelli when you made 4K? I have heard of guys making 4K+ with a TST and Smarty (just a rumor).

I can hit 4100rpm free rev and I can reach 4000 on the road, but it stops pulling hard after 3600 or so.
