What's the benefits of adding more return springs in the direct clutch on a 47re ?

bumparoosky.

I assume there is a reason why there are only 9.

obviously It has something to do with timing, maybe its bad to release too early? and obviously with heavier return springs, you'll need the line pressure to overcome the force.

Any experts want to chime in? I'll send a dollar.

I'm sure there are pros and cons of adding more , but just not sure what they would be lol

Sometimes more springs are used to keep the fluid that's behind the piston from applying or dragging the clutch when not in use. This can be caused from centrifugal force during high rpm.
