Not sure if this has been posted before, but I was googling "tappet covers" and found this timing kit. Looks sweet! All you need is the DV socket for $30-$35 and you have a timing kit for $100 less than snap-on.

i hit 3500 on stock springs now i idle at 1000 how do u adjust idle
On the gov. housing, right behind the actuall throttle lever, there is a 10mm adjuster bolt. Move the throttle forward so you can get to the screw, break the 10mm nut on bottom loose, and turn the screw up by hand. You can leave it loose and start it to see how much you have gained. Cummins spec is 900rpms but you will probably find it wants to pull all the time like at stop lights so 800-850 at idle in park shuold do the trick. Tim
