i am in the same boat as you, trying to decide on which trans to use. i have a lifted 2000 cc dually on 38" i am going to a 6bt. like everyone else i will keep upgrading. but if you are gonna put a lot of power in front on a 4l80e you have to get the billit adapter and flywheel from destroked.com, its like $1,500. i think i will go with a dodge tranny and will be ahead 1,500 right outta the gate, and you still have to put a lot of dough in the 4l80e. and then you will have to get a stand alone programmer for it, another $800. so your already into it foe app. 2 grand without rebuilding the trans

I am running a thm 400 gm in a 87 1ton 4x4 5.9 about 300 hp .built the trans with 1500hp rated inputshaft/drum hd 34 element sprag and basic manual shift type kit and a tci converter for a cummins conversion. and is doing great. I tug a truck it and sled pull the heck out of it. check out you tube under ''chevy cummins'' . The shop i bought the parts from said that he could build a 4l80 to hold .
