4x4 shifter question

so i put a 241dld in my 95 but its out of a 2000, my question is in the 2000 truck the shifter moves in a straight line starting with 4l-n-2h-4h and in my 95 it is in a z patern starting with 2h-4h-n-4l, thats starting at the firewall and going back to the seat and i believe my ordering is right but at most a defiently know the models have a different patern. is the selector just different linkage or is the actual transfer case different on its shifting?

Both cases just have an arm that swings straight forward and back to shift so what the shifter does (straight or Z) doesn't matter if that's what your asking.

ya thats it, i secured a shifter and linkage out of a 2000 last time i went to the pick apart but didnt know if i needed to swap it out, i probaly will anyway since i like it better than the z patern, thank you for clearing that up

Is the throw the same?
