62/65/14 towing questions

I've run/towed with an HX40/16 and a 62/65/12 as singles and you will like the 62 WAY better then the 40 IMHO. It felt better and cooled better all-around, and you wont have to sweat huffing the S362 as they are much stronger turbo.

dont worry - i wont

when i tow i roll the scales at 22.5k#. on the highway around here i use 4th gear (nv-4500) and 2150 rpm. i put a gear vendors splitter behind the 4500 cuz of how the 5th gear is attached to its shaft, the output shaft. you can not tow that heavy in 5th or it will fall apart, even if you have the best parts avail and i do. that being said i tow in 4th. around here (LA area) i use 4th under. 4th under 2150 rpm is good for 58 mph. once i get out of town i use 4th over. 4th over 2150 is good for 79 mph. and it will pull a 6% grade in 4th over @ 22.5k# like no tomorrow. how do i get up to 2150 rpm in 4th over? granny low, 2nd under, 2nd over, 3rd under, 3rd over, 4th under, 4th over. never have to go over under 1800 except when its rollin less than 3 mph and never have to go over 2500 unless i want to go over 100 mph and i have only done that once with the trailer attached.

How do you have over and under with the gear vendors?

I am pretty happy with how my HX40 runs and tows. It comes up on the boost pretty good and seems to keep my truck plenty cool. It isnt much slower spooling than my HX35 was. I can tell a difference though.

of course you can

but it doesnt matter cuz as mentioned u should not try to fuel the thing below 1800 anyways

put a 62/65 on there - you will love it

if ya act fast while htt still has the new arms you can get the stainless housing and u will really love it

then later, when you have more fuel than u know what to do with you will have the perfect top charger for twins

I dont want twins. Im happy with what i have and im not spending any money on anything else anytime soon unless my turbo dies. I was just wanting some questions asked for when i look for something a year or 2 from now.

And AS MENTIONED I told you that i tow down around 1500-1600rpm a lot, so I dont really care what anyone thinks about how i tow. I have been doing it on this truck for 80k miles on the same engine, head gasket, and transmission, and i havent had a problem so i dont see a reason to change just because you think i should. It seems to me that semi's CONSTANTLY tow under 2k rpm and they dont have a problem with it, so why should my scaled down semi engine have a problem with it? The fact is that it doesent!
