For Casper's Bonneville setup.

Using pump diesel and pure water. EGT's were ~1200F. Boost was 50psi. Target power was 900, it took 75% fueling to get there. After 3800 it continued to pull hard to 4400. We know the engine will have limited endurance at high power, so we don't want more power than necessary to hit target speed of 200mph.

This was done at the Westech Performance dyno, with very light load on 4.8 second 85-165mph sweep. Tires started to overheat due to slip on the rollers, so we had to cut the full endurance test short.

Engine is a 441ci LBZ developed by SoCalDiesel with dual piston oilers. Turbos were Garrett GT55 + GT42. Injectors were SoCal balanced injectors. CP3's were stock LBZ for testing, but Wicked Diesel stroker pumps are slated for Bonneville. PPE did the LBZ conversion to Casper (LLY), Dual CP3 system, and Twin Charger. Trans is a 6-Sp "Mike L" LBZ transmission. Tuning was EFILive.

After Bonneville we will turn up the engine for drag racing, it looks like about 25% more HP should be available with the big pumps and higher boost.

Special Thanks out to:

Robert
Johnny
Dutch, Luis, Dan, Joe at PPE
Mike L
Guy at SoCal

for dropping what they were doing and thrashing on Casper with us.

That thing looks sweet, I can't wait to see it in person at Bonneville. 1 more week. :rockwoot:

We leave in 3 days  The guys have been living in the garage this past week.

Look forward to meeting everyone.

Are you guys going to try to stick with the Allison tranny for racing?

We will stick with an Allison.

Anyone can run a race car with a race car transmission.

The trick is to run a diesel truck with a diesel truck transmission. Not everyone can do it.

The NADM race in Salt Lake is the day before speed week starts. Maybe you could run your 9, then let McRat run 200MPH and get a red hat. :poke:

I wish :(

Unfortunately with Casper in LSR mode he is no shape with to drag race.

4x4 is gone since we can't run it and I'm sure I would blow his new white rear end to pieces

After Bonneville I get the keys to try to become the first female, with an allison, in a white 2005 GMC EC/SB, mutant truck to run an 9.999999LOL

For LSR racing the Allison will hold just fine. Your out on the salt and tire slip will be a big deal, not transmission slip. You have to walk it up to speed because if you hit it with big power all at once all it does is spin the tires. At 900 Hp it will last a good long time if the temperatures are held. For a Duramax it's not till you cross over 1200 Hp that things start not liking you too much. There are plenty of 6.6L (402) duramax motors running well above 900 Hp and 4500 RPM, they have been doing it for a long time (over 2 seasons) so if the stroke has helped any it should be no problem at all.

I wasnt talking about switching to a race transmission, but rather to a Dodge 47RE. It would still be considered a diesel transmission, right?:hehe:

Yes, it would... But, we are not swapping to one of those either :D

Did you have to forgo a diesel truck rear axle because no one would make you the gears you needed?

Go like hell!
