Hey guys i have a 97 5 speed with the 215 pump, 0 fuel plate afc gutted full cut dv's and an HX40 turbo. I have 4inch turbo back to a 6 inch straight stack. And it cackles like crazy dont even sound like a cummins from like 2300 to 3k where it tops out. sounds like a gasser with a turbo, iv never heard one sound like it and was wondering if it was somethin i needed to tend to or if its just the way my configuration is. it sounded the same way when i had my side pipe on it too.

my 96 use to do that never thought anything of it to be honest but again i only had it for 6-7 months before i got another truck, but i say try what red mention.

My 99 did that only when I put the edge on high and got above 2400 I had 4inch turbo back to 6inch stacks and they were tall. I liked the sound and it was real wicked sounding when it did a 3cyl idle

Have you checked your fuel preasure? I've only heard one do that and it was starving for fuel.

^^ and check for airleaks in your intercooler piping. I've seen a loose clamp cause sometihing similar

when does your turbo light, when i was running a 66, when it would light right around 2k it would make out loud cracking sound though the exhaust

timing is stock, all intercooler boots are tight turbo lights depending on the gear, it does it about 30 lbs of boost in every gear. iv heard of them cackleing because of lack of fuel but my smoke dont ever clear up so it dont seem like thats the problem. but i also dont have any type of aftermarket lift pump.

Displaced I got in trouble for being like you yesterday. I bow out on this one.

I think cumminsdriver had an issue like that a couple years ago.

I think it had something to do with the turbo only wastegating three cylinders making that sound. Can't remember if he was running a 35 or 40- probably same style exhaust housings anyways.
