AAM Full Spool and Shafts Pics

When I talked to SCS directly they said no mention of 37 spliner's.

A set of high quality 35 spline axles and full spool is the way to go. 2 more splines are not going the to make difference its the machining process its the material.

I agree, but the 37 spline axles are like a 1.62" or so and the 35 are 1.5"
Which gives you almost 15% more cross section.

I will stick with the stockers and the welded diff for now, untill I save up the cash to buy a set. Besides I am not making the big power like "2nd hand smoke" and "Fool spool". Nice looking set thou.

Do you usally break the axles at the spline or just after, were most of the stress is???

The 37 spline axles are actually a larger diameter from what I have seen, so if they are made of the same material wouldn't that make them stronger?
I am not saying the 2 extra splines are what make them stronger, but typically the more splines you have the larger diameter the axles are.

I have seen several break just outside the carrier, but I ahve seen them break right on the outside flange also.

There must be alot of birds out by you because I can hear them from here, Cheap Cheap Cheap!!!:hehe:

Well yeah except in Michigan where the difference in cross section is only 8% from 1.5" to 1.62"

Tell you what......let me borrow $800.00 and hand me $1500.00....you know...since we're rounding up

In axles with spline count and diameters so similar, material choice and the process's a true performance axle go through during the build could make the smaller dia/ smaller spline count axle stronger by far.

$.02

I don't know about the Michigan dig, but you are 100% true the 35 spline quality shafts can be way stronger 1/8 in is not the answer or I would be running stock 37 spline shafts for next to nothing.

That wasnt directed at you Steve......just pointing out that a 1.62" axle is not 15% larger than a 1.5" axle....saying in Michigan its only an 8% increase in cross section width.

In Michigan you guys need to learn how to figure cross sectional area.
Would probably help if you knew the equation for area of a circle was pi*r^2.:owned:

I am not saying a high quality 35 spline axle is worse than a 37 spline stocker. I had jsut heard that some people running big power were actually using 37 spline yukons. One way to support this for someone looking for axles(I am not I have haisley 35 splines) is to call Randy's and if they have a 37 spline yukon that will fit the dodge hub, it might help support the theory. Last time I checke the axles flanges were different between the dodge and the fords.

I don't have the ratings for 37-spline but check this out. 35-spline axles have a 9,600-ft.lb torque rating per axle. 40-spline have 12,000-ft.lb torque rating per axle. take the torque of your engine x gear ratio x rear gear ratio x .90 (efficency rating) So 1000 lb torque x 3.04 (2ng gear ratio for nv-4500) x 4:11 rear gear x .90 e/r = 11244.96-ft.lb of torque going to the rear now split that in 2 (per axle) 5622.48-ft.lb of torque per axle. so a 35-spline is almost a 75% saftey margine. (I think) these are on aftermarket alloy axles.

Most of the time it is the shock loading, and also remember also that most dyno's are done under acceleration, if your actually decelerating, your exerting more force than the engine can produce. Also as your RPM drop your torque will go up(at least until you fall off the charger)

Are these available for the D70/80? Where did you find them? Looks like a pretty strong piece. One less excuse for the dmax.

are you one of them want to be truck pullers? let me guess you dont have a truck but you put others down. i dont call it a excuse i call it hp :ft: :shake:

dont worry about digger he pulls a dodge and even though hes not on top most of the time he is a good guy that likes to give the duramax people some poo digger is a good sport and if he could he would get into pulling a lot deeper but like most of us the pocket book holds us to a level:Cheer:
