Adding a Tachometer

I picked up a small tachometer I want to put on my Farmall M. While looking at it online I had the install figured out, but now for some reason with it in front of me, I feel totally stumped! So I'm just looking for some guidance from those smarter than me! Here's some pictures if the gauge and the included instructions.

Yellow goes to your headlight switch, blue to whatever you are using for you RPM pickup, Red goes to hot/battery after the on/off switch, and black goes to ground. I have no idea what white is going to I guess that you bought changes colors.

I guess the rpm pickup is my next big hurdle then. For some reason I thought there was something to do with the distributor when I ordered it, but now I don't think so.

wrap coil wire? with the pickup wire...how my quad did it.. point side of distrib

Would be cylinder #1 spark plug wire if inductive pickup on multi cylinder engine.

Probably doesn’t matter what wire now that I think about it, but I always see it on #1 ha.
