AFC lever travel

i say someone should come up with a aftermarket afc

there is no way to get full lever travel with what i got

not having it start off back where i want it

Remember as the rpm's increase the lever will pull back and rise. I don't think you can duplicate the movement without the engine running.

have read til my eyes were red

if i am the only person saying they are not getting full travel why are people like ron allen machining the inside of the cover and others asking about slotting the holes so they can get the housing further forward?

never seen what it does under rpm - if it "pulls back" that would surprise me

understand that it rises, maybe thats why the foot comes with a slight angle machined into it? (cuz the lever does move up n back)

the trucks seems to fuel more with it gutted

maybe its all in my head

dunno, got it runnin good for pulling right now tho

soon i will have more pump than i know what to do with - that will make everything a lot easier cuz i got the "how to take fuel outta it" part down

thanks to all of you

don

:thankyou2:

I know what you mean.
I have read that thread a half a dozen times, and everytime I read it I go out and start tinkering on the pump.

I bought a JR Adkins tuned 887 off of Zstroken that was set to flow 650cc, with full cuts and a 2095 mack plug. I am taking the full cuts out and the mack plug and I am going to be installing.
Its been sitting in my garage for about 8 months because I've been to busy at work to install the thing.

Should be intersting to see how she runs.

The whole surface of the plate is not used. Im not 100% sure but I think in a stock application with the stock plate, the only parts that are used are what I have between the red lines. I may be wrong so someone please correct me if so.

Pretty sure this would be correct Josh. Almost as soon as the RPM starts to come up(assuming the AFC arm isnt holding the governor arm back) the governor arm gets into the deep part of the plate and then starts to defuel some as RPM rise.

As rpm's increase the governer pulls in. This action pulls the lever back. The lever travels an arc. It's not straight forward. As it pulls back the tip will rise. This allows the rack to travel further forward as the go pedal is pressed.
