Who's got them? Who's heard of them? What do you think of them?

Mine works great.

i thought about installing one on my truck but decided to go with stiffer piston return spings instead the truck revs much better and i noticed a gain in fuel mileage. next mod will be the switch though

I got enough electric stuff going on to full field the alternator, I only have horsepower to gain by cutting field voltage to it when it's boogie time.

Why not just put a full throttle switch? Put to the floor and the alternator drops out.

You just shut down the charging on the alternator, it frees up some HP, not much but a little.

But it's also just a switch on one wire. Or perhaps a relay on one wire with a switch and another two wires.

I have special need for my inverter, which is capable of drawing more amperage than my alternator can put out. But a few horsepower is a few horsepower, considering it's just a switch.

Depends on the model and year of the truck. On first gen Dodges it's the blue 14 gauge wire (ignition) going into the alternator.

have the diesel classes gotten so competitive that your chasin 5-6 hp from your alternator?

15 minutes and $5 for 5 horsepower?

I had to do it for my 200 amp water injection system; not only would it full field my 120 amp alternator, which would draw a considerable amount of power, but that would also proceed to fry my 95 amp battery isolator and blow the 100 amp fuses that protect the isolator wiring.

But I like having it. I admit to having a toggle switch fetish, though. I've also never seen anybody else with one, I figure somebody has to have one.

I think ill just run something like an A/C clutch on my crank pulley so that i can kill the whole belt and everything it drives every time i want to race someone:hehe:

You mean you guys don't drag race or pull a sled with your stereo turned up and the A/C blowing cold air?

slackers...:hehe:

what about guys running electric fuel pumps like the FASS or Aeromotive setups, won't this cause problems with fuel supply?

You'll see a 5x10 Glossy of one of our folks here when you do..... LOL
