Alternator On/ Off Switches

When I was having alternator problems, I had the ability to turn the alternator on and off when I was locating the bad wire, and I have to say, that the alternator would pull the engine down harder than the A/C...

I think a few HP would be worth it, especially on the dyno. I would have paid $45 for 3HP a month ago when I dyno'd 497rwhp....

well I hooked up mine. I didn't wire it to the alternator though. I just made it so I could turn off the ASD relay in the distribution box instead. works good! I am thinking of wiring it up to the N/C contacts on my 10psi switch for my water/meth system so I don't have to think about it. may save me some $$ on gas too.

what about guys running electric fuel pumps like the FASS or Aeromotive setups, won't this cause problems with fuel supply?

As you may know, typically, with the engine running, the alternator supports all the trucks electrical demands. As such, the battery is only for starting the engine.

In the race setting, the battery should be able to support an electric water and fuel lift pump, etc for a few seconds with no issue.

If one horsepower gets me there first, . . . . . . so be it. ;)
