Another Billet Intake

Here are some pictures of the intake that I made for my head. I designed this last summer wanting to cut the intake off and port my head My work has been slow so I finally got around to cut the head and finish it. I still have to set the head back on the truck and get the intake piping worked out. I have designed it to work with the grid heater if you want it. There is little or no restriction going into the ports it matches almost perfectly no steps. I can't say what gains one might get from it I think the big thing is just being able to port the intake runners.

Talented, that looks awesome.....How many hours do you have in setting up the programs for milling it?

The chunk of aluminum this size is pretty expensive it started from a piece of 4.5x5x30.5 there is quite a bit of machine time in it being it is the first one I didn't keep that close of track of it because I was changing things as I went along. But I did have a few days in it. Then a day or so to polish the cutter marks out of it. It is an ongoing process that I would have to refine.

Thanks! I was just curious- it's not that big of a deal. I have a spare (junk) 12v block/head/ppump if you want to borrow it.

Brandon,
I may just take you up on that 12 valve it would be nice to have one to work with. How far are you from White Pigeon Mi?

Great looking piece! Would this work on a 24v non CR head? Or would you need to redesign something for them? I would be very interested in getting a price from you on head work and all. I can ship you the head as soon as Monday. LMK

Thanks,
Josh

I would probably need to redesign a few things but I think I could make it work.

what kind a price would u charge i got my head at the machine shop i NEED a intake manifold quick mine is CR

Google says 4 hours or 222 miles. My brother was through there yesterday. I may be able to work something out with the truck loads of deicer that are going up to chicago from here if you can meet someone at the truck stop. I'll talk to the dispatcher and let you know.

Thanks Brandon that would be great, let me know.

where exactly is White Pigeon. and i am also interested in a 12v one too. no huge rush though sometime later this year.
thanks
Joe

White Pigeon is south of Kalamazoo about 30 miles just north of the Indiana line. Maybe by the time you are ready I will have one designed for the 12 valve.

Toolman- you're pretty close to me then. I live in Fort Wayne. I would also have a 12V motor for you to play with, but it's entirely in pieces.

That looks great!

Im kicking myself for not doing this when I put the 3gen head on my rig. Maybe Ill tear down and do it:doh:

Fort Wayne is about 70 miles from me that wouldn't be bad at all. As far as putting it back together all I really need is enough stuff on it to make sure every thing would clear . pump, lines stuff like that.

I'm curious on what grade of aluminum you used was it some 6061 or something different. I was also quoted around $225 dollars for a chunk of 6061 does that sound about right?

It is 6061 T6 but if you can find it for 225.00 give me your supplier because the chunk that I bought to do this one was a little over 300.00 shipped to me. I have about 3 different suppliers that I use and unless you buy large quantities from them you have to pay through the nose for it.

We quote through 6 suppliers here and I don't have all quotes yet but I'll keep you informed if I get a better price or maybe you could give me your number and i'll give you a call. I would be glad to help you out.

Very nice piece for sure, i think it could be even better with 2 inlets though. Being your starting from nothing that shouldnt be to bad to do if someone wanted one, i see the advantage being more so if ones spraying water or and nitrous, it seems it would help distribute the air and mixture even better to an already kick a** manifold. Its all about getting the end cylinders feed as even as the centers, whether its just air or "extras"Just my thought.

First off, great work and CADing and coding!!!

Kind of like what stock600 said - what if you machined dual inlets (like the old 12v)? This way you're not restricted to your 3" inlet port...

I could probably do it on a 12 valve but with the CR the injection lines are in the way the same with the 24 valve. On my truck the 04 I have the duel CP3'S and also the kick down bracket to contend with. I was really trying to make it something that most people could bolt on and use their stock parts and not have to fab up a bunch of stuff. Most IC'S only have 3" or 3.5" outlets that is going to be the restriction not the manifold. I have a couple of friends that run 12valves and have put the twin ram intake on them and said they didn't notice any kind of improvment in performance from it.
Maybe on the 12 valve we can try it.

sounds good, by then ill be going a little bit:evil faster. K Zoo is like an hour to an hour and a half. by the way do you go at all to milan during the spring and summer or do you go to US 131?
thanks
Joe
