Fired the truck up this morning and turned the heater on once it warmed up and there is a very distinct coolant smell coming from the vents. I also noticed the other day that after doing some 70-100mph runs at over 1600* with water temps around 205* that my AC had a burning smell coming from the vents. I've never noticed these smells in the past 10yrs so something is new. Just not sure if I should remain ignorant or start worrying about a huge repair bill.

That's what I'm leaning towards. Haven't seen any leaks anywhere but that doesn't mean anything.

could be a internal heater core leak, and its just not escaping the case yet, and if you have to replace the heater core, get a hot knife....saves a few hours of labor!

What dash LOL

Wow, i thought my dash was bad...atleast I am not the only one out there with a "weight reduction" dashboard haha.

Holy cow man! Well it'll be even easier changing that out now!! LOL

The good thing if it is a heater core is that it won't immediately leak onto the floor because it's in that holder. I did mine last year, it's really not too bad and I cheated and cut the metal lines off the new heater core and replaced them with rubber.

I did that on my 01. put it off for 2 years. its really not bad at all; with a dash like that its a 2 hour job max.

yeah, it's not really a bad job, but he's going to have to add a new dash to the cost because that thing's going to disintegrate when he pulls it! LOL

Kinda depends. I tore our most of mine and just left the supports. Glued the cover to where the supports were.

Sweet. I'm only $310 away from being able to afford it LOL. Damn ill be glad when my new job starts.
