Anybody used one of these for a recall tach

Guys I have looked at the stewart warner tack and really like the idea because we have a max rpm limit so you could set the shift light and know when its time to start out of the clutch. But with that being said I have a big list of parts this winter and was thinking if the 35 dollor autometer thing would work it could get me by. The truck came with a gas tack in it so I have a 6k tack.

The SW Recall Jackblack n I were talking about comes with its own pickup for the harmonic balancer. At least, that's what Haisley told him when he asked on my behalf.

Tim, the autometer unit requires you read off 4 bolts or notches in the balancer. 6 will throw the reading off.

Ok, well thatthrows that plan out the window. I called ATI and they will sell me the outer case with the magnets made in it (however many i need) for 250$. Unless i sold mine and just bought the new complete unit. How do you get yours to work.

Tim

I machined two more notches in my Fluid Dampener. The tach jumps around some in the high rpm so I am going to make a ring that goes into the center of the dampener out of aluminum with 4 magnets in it to pic up off.

That was the other scenario ati and me talked about. Make an aluminum ring that would use three of the bolts to hold it square and put the magnets in the end of it.
