I've always used Fleetguard LF3959 oil filters...but I'm tired of driving 1 hour to get them or paying shipping. Does anyone trust the NAPA Gold stuff on their diesels?

Anyone else ever drained your oil and went to get a filter off the shelf and realized...chit, I ain't got one? :hehe: I pulled a bone head yesterday. New oil...old filter. :D

I use Mopar filters...by the case they are about the same price as napa.

I use the part which cross references to approved fleetgaurd filters. Napa 1607 IIRC.

Cool. I just wanted to find something local I can use. The only place I can find Fleetguard is in OKC at Southern Plain Cummins.

I've read some really bad things about NAPA Gold, WIX, and Fram oil filters...complaints of them coming apart and clogging oil passages.

I have heard the same.

If I'm not mistaken the Mopar filter is made by Fleetguard and is less money.

That's what I'm probing for T.J., info like that....but with something more than "I heard." I can't say that I'm a fan of WIX or Fram, but I don't know how the internal quality compares to a Gold.

I hear people say they hear of wix and napa filters failing. Between my father, grandfather and myself we've probably got over 1,000,000 miles on cummins engines with a combo of wix and napa filters and never had a problem with one.

I've gone through about 5-7 of them and not had any issues knock on wood.

How about I just make you a smokin deal on a case of Fleetguard and you go on with your life.

Jory,

I live in the sticks too. I just order 'em from Jeff and have them delivered to the door...

Jory, if it makes you feel better, call Jeff and get a case of Fleetguards, or call Scott and get a case of Napa filters. Wix makes a goods filter, what I run on pretty much everything.

BTW, either of the two gents will be happy to sell to anybody that would like filters at good prices, just get enough to justify the shipping.

I sure heard of it a lot but never saw it happen when I worked at CARQUEST. If you have a CQ close to you the number is 85607. If you want a 3rd gen type with the finger grips on the bottom then look at an 84620.

Glad you said that...I was going to suggest it.

Any Case or AGCO dealers around there Jory? They would have them too...AGCO number for a Stratopore filter is 72516556...I'd have to looks for a CASE number

Chris
