I have heard so many things on which ones to run or not to run. Some say 625's are the only way to go while other say they are not worth the money and the standards will hold just fine. I have future goals of 800HP. Whats everyones opinion on headstuds over here? Thanks!

completely shredded my engine, melted pistons and all. Stock head gasket still in good shape with the 625's.

Wow thats impressive! Well i guess if your going to build it you might as well do it right the first time. I just wish they weren't so expensive!

I wasn't going to get the 625's, but brown's diesel had super good prices on them.

I could see trying to get away with regular studs on a single. But, with twins, the 625's should be the standard. It's a pretty wierd feeling torquing a 12mm nut to 160 ft/lbs.

Yeah thats alot of meat to be putting to something that small! You seem to be in goos with Brown's! Any chance of getting me a smoking deal on a set of those 625's from them?

On my old engine I just used the arp2000's torqued them down to 150. Didnt have any problems with that,, just pistons exiting stage right and left.. LOL

I have my standard ARP to 145# for 3 years now.

Besides, Garmon does twins and 700+hp twinned trucks with STOCK HEAD BOLTS!

Using the stock head bolts mandates lower compression, even then its a crappy place to try and save a buck.

Get the 625's its worth it.

I'm running over 100lbs boost (112 on the data log when the tranny popped) with 625's and the stock thicker MLS gasket.

However I've dropped 2 points in compression as well.

stock head bolts, stock compression, 26 degrees, daily driver, around 580rwhp maybe a bit more now. so far no problems, nock on wood.

They are the hook up on anything ARP. PM sent ;)

And your 625's are in my engine now, torqued to 160.

:rockwoot:. Glad they went to a good home. I'll probably regret selling them if I ever get the CR bug again.

I agree on 625's. I have the 2000 with 12v gasket and orings but wish I had stock gasket and 625s, seems to be the better way to go.

Yes, I was running stock head bolts torqued to 150+ and holding right at 800 with o-ring's.....Decompressed motor though...around 14.5:1

Now, I had just purchased 625's and installed them about 200 miles before my #3 Rod exited Stage Left!!!!! :bang

After Jeff Garmon pulled a set of 625's to 170 ft. lbs (cold) EVEN he said that he was very impressed....He's gonna start using them on high HP CR builds...He's building a CR for a guy right now with a F'ng HUGE set of twins and I hooked him up with a set of 625's for that guys truck...

625's have my vote!!!:rockwoot: Like you send earlier....DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME ROUND!!!!:rules:

Any compensation for the guinea pig???

Needs to be said man, that shop made a mess of your truck, and I'd bet a bag of marbles it would still be running if it had those 625's to start with.

I am running the standard ARP 2000 torqued to 145. Held over 80 pounds and 850hp just fine for over a year. However, if you can swing the 625s I would say go for it. I have heard that they don't flex when you re-torque like the 2000s do.
