ARP Stud Issue

dont know how it would hurt...6 of the studs on mine on that side got rtv on them and ive had no ill effects yet.

ok, so say the gasket is blown and compression is getting into the water jacket...why would the only place it leaks be at the stud/nut and not between the head and block, or any other place for that matter.

Maybe it has not pushed all the way out of the head yet, it just maid it to the stud. It could happen....

Kyle, I would call Woodruff and pick his brain a little, he would probably have a good idea of what is happening.

We have a LARGE inventory of ARP studs. We have them in stock at great prices. Brady, IIS 1-800-955-0476

Just pull the head then you will know what is up not that hard

3 things make it hard FOR ME:

1. Limited to weekends b/c NEED truck for work
2. Dont always have a shop to work in
3. No alternative means of transportation

How'd your leaky inj line work out. Did the new cross tube work?

Im with brandon on this one. If its not antifreeze or if its not using oil it could be the molly lube or what ever you used to put the studs in. Mine did it on a few for a little bit. When i pulled my head a few months ago most of my studs had like a sludge on them and i couldnt tell ya what it was from but maybe the lube i used to put them in.

Pull the stud and put loctite pipe sealant on the threads. It says this right in the instrutions that come With A1's from Haisley. I have a Scheid custom block and when the drilled for the 14mm studs, they got into the water jacket so i put this on all of the studs. Tim

REtorque and see wfat she does. Also do a leak down test in the cylenders. That's a great way to see if HG is blown

yup that new cross tube seemed to stop the leak...i am going to send the old leaky one back to JL Machine and have john check it out

i was pretty liberal with the ARP molly lube and you can still see it on the studs and nuts.

another thing that i wish i would have done, but ran out of time, would be bottom tapping the block...if i can find a bottom tap, i might do that b/c most of my studs stick up ABOUT 1/2" (or less) past the nut
