Took a trip up the street to check out Advance Adapters today. Nice little factory they have there!!!!
Anyway, gotto see the internals of the Atlas Transfercase. Nice unit!!!
But I wonder...how many people use this box when pulling?
The 271 is physicaly bigger than the Atlas, but bigger does not always mean better.
I can see the 271 being better suited to drag racing, but with ratio options of 3.0, and 3.8 on the Atlas, I would not have to re-gear the truck and still be able to run 5th low range pulling. It also has a yoke on the tail shaft and not a slip joint.
With what I was able to gather while talking with them, the output shaft "could" be good for over 7000 foot pounds. The 5500 foot pound limit on the 241 was on the planetary, NOT the case or the chain...whish as we know can not handle 5500 foot pounds.
so, where does the 271 sit?
