I ordered a 20ft stick today for $340 shipped to my door. Thats $17 per foot delivered. Sound fair or should I cancel the order?

How much of that was shipping? Its $10 a foot from our local source in Michigan.

What are you building?

I couldn't find it local, called all around. I'm building traction bars. I'm not sure of price break down for shipping, but most people wanted $20+ per foot delivered.

sounds about right i got prices like a month ago to make bars for a buddies truck it doubled in price from 5 months ago when i get it

yeah the price fluxuates day to day with that stuff. I called one day and it was $6 a foot and the next week it was $13 a foot.

after you are done, it might have been cheaper to just buy some from Farmboy Fabrications.

13.75 a ft last year, I heard that the Olympics are over the price of steel is going to go down, Not sure if thats true but.... I guess china needed it more thin we did.

Maybe, maybe not. I like doing this stuff myself. Farmboy does good work, by the pictures I've seen, but I enjoy doing this stuff.

just checked here in town. 13.50/ft.

What kind of heims are you using Jamie? how much?

weld in bungs?

I'm probably going with 1-1/8 shank, 1" hole = $60 each OR,
2.5" johnny joints with 1-1/4 shank for about $40 each.

They're both about right for 2" DOM

I'm thinking about using a set of 1" top links that I have here. They are from a 255 case 3 point hitch. I'm gonna dig them up & see if they fit. I might have a tap in the box to just thread the ends of the tubing. Kinda still undecided on that.

Do you really need to do 1/2" wall?

I have a set I need to build one of these days and I'm using 2" square tube, 1/4" wall. Was around $7 a foot.

I've been running that size tube on my Jeep for control arms and it's been doing fine slamming on rocks and what not.

We tried Schedule 80 1.5" pipe(ID) and it didn't hold up, it has like .21" wall thickness. We then went to 2" DOM(OD) with .5" wall thickness. I used 3rd point links, cut them in half and had a shop turn down the DOM and slip the 3rd points over the turned down part and then welded it up. Flawless for 2+ years.

imo that seems high. the place i go to in south jersey charges by the lb. i got 3 6' sections and a bunch of sheet metal for around $200 bucks. even though that was last year, i will be going to get some this weekend though.
