Best Body/Chassis to start a Puller???

I love the look of this old ford, I'm pretty sure its a 80's truck with a 97 cab if I remember right.

I think its a 94? cab with the early 80's front clip. Electronics from the cab.

Well, if I get lucky and no one else jumps on it before i get a word in......I might just have a Chassis!!!!!

Just found a steal of a deal on a 93 D350. Guy used it to repower another truck, so it doesnt have a motor or trans, but thats what i realy wanted. Another good thing is that it has VERy good paint and looks like it wont need much body work!!!

Still gonna take a good amount of work to get it to were I need it, but its a very good start! hardest part will be getting a D60 to convert it from 2wd to 4wd. But Im guessing the local Wrecking yard will be a good place to go, and Ill be there pretty often!!!

Cool part is...since it was just used for a repower.....hes selling it for what it would get for scap metal price!

Thats awesome!! Will a 80s gm pass drop front d60 work for you? If so, we might be able to make a deal. ;)

I looking at throwing a NV4500 and a DHD transfer case to simplify things so if it would work, sure why not!

Its sounding like converting 2wd to 4wd is gonna be the hardest part. Good thing i got goin for it is its a puller only, so Ill build it for that. Probably have to fab up a lot of stuff for the drive train to fit. Im gonna try and take my time with this and spend all summer on just getting the Frame set up.

Ill have to use a lot of head scratching and Redneck Fab to get it all together....but Im hoping it turns out the way I want! And of course Ill take lots of pictures of the process!!!

If your going with a DHD you might as well find a driverside drop d60.

There is a long wheel base 1992 D350 ex cummins truck on craigslist in Indy that might be a good platform. probably a pain in the ass to switch to a 4wd, bu thats fine as none of the 1st gen parts but the front axle are heavy enough to last anyways!

Ive seen the one in Indy.....Not realy a good deal. 2wd Chassis, Rusty body not worth the money they are asking.

I think for the money Im getting this one for, its perfect for what ill be doing. Im hoping to have pics this week, gonna try and go check it out on my days off. Good thing it only about an hour away!!

Jeff if you use a nv4500 and a DHD you will have to use a dr side drop dana 60 out of a ford like 78 to 96 early axles are kingpin later axles are balljoint they are out but getting harder to find. They are going to be around 1000 for a good used one id check other forums like pirate for one if thats the route you take.

Its not a junk yard, its a guys back yard behind his shop.

He bought it to repower his other truck. Its loaded up with scrap metal because he was going to take the truck and the crap in it to a junk yard. He said i could have it if I gave him the same amount that it would get at the scrap yard, so i jumped all over it!!!

Its auctually cleaner than it looks! Its been sitting out back of his shop for a long time, so its VERY dirty. It only has a very small spot of rust on the rocker and a little surface rust on the top rear of the bed. I dont think Ill need to paint it, just a little wash and wax and I think it will shine pretty good! Plus the two tone paint will give the "Old Grandpa Farm Truck" Look.

You can re-clock the t-case to run the 1st gen D60. It would be less work/money than making a ford axle fit, IMO. Then you can use the money you save for front axle shafts.

Truthfully, Im gonna nab a D80 for the rear first............So atleast i can get the rear set up and start working on bars, stops and a few other goodies!

That looks like a great truck to start with. Wish
I could find a donor truck and put the parts in my 1980 powerwagon

Well, still havent gotten time/a tow rig, trailer to go up and get the truck just yet.....

But Ive been looking for parts!!!

Gonna go check out a D60 front today to see if its any good. Its a 1973 Chevy front with 4:10's....Hoping it works. From what I understand it should be a Pass. drop axle. Im wanting to use a NP205, but Im not sure how thats all going to work out with trans, T-Case mating to a 12v........

Any one
