Couple questions for you VP-44 guys.

So is there a better stack than a Drag comp and a Redline?
Whats up with the BD Rad box? Is this needed to get rid of the TQ managment? Do you need a boost fooler also with twins? Does the TQ managment pertain to sticks or just autos?

Thanks guys I am just a dumb P-Pump guy:bang

I don't know why you would stack a drag comp and a redline.. You would only be using the drag comps timing, which you could get just as easy with an EZ.

I think the Redline and Smarty stack would be the route to go. My FMS / Smarty stack is killer. I also don't have any of the defueling shutter that I've experienced with the TST and Comp boxes.

The quadzilla adrenaline is supposed to be the newest latest and greatest. But, I don't know if you can get the RPMs with that box like you can with the Redline (which is why you are interested in the redline, I assume?)

The drag comp has better driving characteristics than the redline. Also you can run the comp on 1x1 to use less fuel and help the driveability. I wouldn't get a Drag comp, I would just get the standard comp, unless you get a drag comp dirt cheap.

Chris we are going to do a little playin with one of these monster pumps.

MD can you explain what exactly each of these box's do that no single box can?

Dan isn't the drag comp only like 30hp more?

Something like that. The thing to remember it shouldn't be thought of as HP, more as a percent. 140 HP with stock injectors woudl be more with larger injectors.
We tried the smarty stack with a redline and it was ok. We had such big injectors and a 3.0 charger, that we couldn't run the smarty on 10 to get the least amount of torque management. If we had it on 10 it had way too much fuel on the bottom end. So we would try like 5 and the torque management still seemed to be there. We used the drag with the wire unhooked with the redline. Just used the drage cause we already had it.

The drag comp on my truck only made an extra 40hp over a standard comp after 2700rpm. Other than that they were both identical.

I was getting a pretty bad break up around 2 grand right before the charger lit with no boxes hooked up to the pump but i hooked up a Van Auken box to it to help with timing and load and fueling and it cleaned it up alot ... still a little bit but not as bad ... I will know more when i get the RedBox hooked up this weekend

Well, its not always a case of this box "can or cannot" do X. It is also a case of HOW WELL they do X.

For example. The Redline (or FMS) does not add additional timing. You might have a little better bottom end torque, but you will run out of hp in the upper RPMs.

The comp does add timing, but, in my very humble opinion, does not do as good of a job as the Smarty.

The Smarty is your low-end and timing box. You will not get the same low end performance with any of the boxes as you will with the Smarty. Having gone from a CaTCHER ECM with no timing to a Smarty with timing, I can say that I much prefer the timing. I didn't notice any difference in EGT control, but the higher RPMs are stronger with timing then without. \

99.9% of the information available (and given) on any of these things is pure opinion. They all claim to do similar things. They all claim to give similar HP. In my experience, I think a Smarty stack with a non-timing fuel box is the best for driveability, and the TST with Smarty is the best for horsepower...

I would LOVE to see if there is a shutter with the TST on a monster pump. If these things are pushing the fuel as hard as everyone claims, I predict a few people on the side of the road cracking injector lines after getting out of the throttle hard... Will be interesting to see. :)

I daily drive mine. I prefer no electronics for daily driving, toooooo much smoke. I use the Adrenaline or the Drag Comp for the extra timing and fueling. My twins, cannot burn all the fuel the pump alone makes, electronics only seem to help mine down low. You will have to find, through trial and error what works best for you. Good luck.

I'm running an Adrenaline right now and think its 10 times better than my Edge box...Time may tell though, but all the extra options definitely make it my choice. Never ran a Redline though, so I can't comment on that.

Thanks Guys
How are you guys getting around the TQ managment and still keeping your gauges working?

I think you might be able to use a ECM from a manual trans truck.

What about an ECM from a 98-00 auto truck. Only the 01-02 had the torque managment

I use a Drag Comp Hot & a Smarty and the two are a great combo.Fuels pretty hard. Now using the Smarty with the cruise is a pain because of the throttle response.I have a RAD but never hooked it up.The Smarty seems to get rid of most or all of the torque management but it is hard to tell when the tires are blazing.:hehe:
Now a question for those in the know, how much is the timing with a box,how much is it with a Smarty then I know you would not use the timing of the 2 together but what would it be & I guess it would be too much?:kick::poke:

98.5-2000 automatics don't have torque management, just an FYI.

Edit: Rockjeep beat me to it..
