Best Electronics for the Monster Pump

interesting stuff--I just picked up a Smarty---didn't really want it, but maybe I'll hang onto it and see---I already have a drag comp, Quad, Redline box and I will use either the Quad or Redline as my box with the MONSTER pump and possibly either the drag comp or smarty stacked with the Redline, but I could stay with the drag comp, we will see---I'm hoping to dyno in 2-3 weeks time and obtain some #'s with a HRVP vs the MONSTER----dyno same day with same box and swap out the pumps---should be interesting----chris

it doesnt add any hp i wouldnt buy a monster pump i have one and it fuels so early and so hard that it will kill the truck if you get on it from idle. i love it though it pretty nice except for the lurch and hop and skip oh and i run a custom set of injectors buy the pump creator along with cross tubes and a 3rd gen head so it does pretty good just need to have him turn the early fueling down.

Im running a monster with a edge juice and redline. With a Pro 52, so there is no real power before 2,000 rpm. But around 3,000 rpm the motor starts to break up. its not running out of fuel, so what could the problem be?

What is the befits of a 3rd gen head on a VP motor? what things need to be done to make one work? just curious?

Ports are bigger (bowl area), less restrictive plenum area. Cross tubes need to be changed.

what kind of tubes would you run? How much better flow is it vs. a mild ported '01 head?

Well, I cannot comment too much about the monster pumps because I have never worked with one.

What I can tell you is that on these finicky setups I think the most reasonable way to make them run properly is going to be with the Adrenaline/Pulse. Not because I think it will make more power. I think any wire tap box will have the ability to stretch the monster pump further than needed to get peak power.

I think the advantage will be that with the Pulse you can fine tune your timing advance, your max fuel stretch, you can tune on throttle response, tell the box how you want both the can and pump stretch scaled based on throttle and boost etc.

I think to make them really drivable it will take something with those sort of fine tuning adjustments or you are going to have to live with a comprimise. For just power I think you could go buy an old blue chip or our old Xzillaraider boxes and get most of the power out of that pump because of the wasy it flows fuel on its own. I just think it would be ugly to drive on a regular basis.

Timing does not help - fuel only boxes are the way to go. TST Comp or Redline. I make peak power with my TST on 3 or 4 if that helps anybody.

Gus, timing makes a huge difference in mine, fuel does not help mine. I have a surplus of that anyway. My truck initially ran the best with a Drag Comp, without the pump wire tapped. Since my turbos are puking oil into the intercooler, power is being lost. Maybe the extra fueling will help mine when I get around to putting my bigger chargers on. I like the Adrenaline better than the Comp now. Thanks Quad, for giving us that needed adjustability.

BD Towing twins aren't near big enough to accomodate the fuel these pumps can push. Timing has helped me none and I've done many pulls with this pump on the dyno and down the track. Each truck is different.

quad if u want the chance to work with one ill be in ft worth over memorial day weekend........ perhaps a monster pump tune.....

1 dyno pull and 3 passes, yes very authoritative. I drive mine every day, wonder how many passes that equals....

Mayb Mike or II will have a VP44 bag of parts upgrade like a reground Cam ring that might save a BEN or 2

I forgot to mention everybody - Shane knows everything that goes on everywhere at all times. Mind your own business. :kick:

The problem is that you have never been able to adjust timing. You either have the EZ's timing or not, the Smarty's timing or not etc.

Now that you will be able to adjust it you might be suprised at what it will do. especially up top ona high boost motor.
