biggest air filter for twins

afe 24-50512 for the 12" one high tech ram mentioned
afe 24-51518 for the 18" one timebomb mentioned

Is that part number right, I have a 24-50518 on my Bullet? For the others that is a 5 x 18.

Jim

take your dimensions of your available space and go to K&Ns website, pic it out and call Jeg's or Summit with the part number. pretty much an size u can come up with, they have. just my $.02

I called afe today and asked a few questions.

this is what was recommended to me 24-60510 is is a 6" inlet and about 10" long. He said it will out flow the 24-50512 (12" with 5' inlet).

he also said to stay away from the 12" and longer filters, b/c there is a better chance of collapsing one that long with a turbo charged engine. he said those are more suited for n/a engine that dont suck like turbo charged engines do.

he also said the pro dry s do not flow as much as the blue media, about 10% less.

i will be calling s&b tomorrow to see if they have anything close to the 24-60510.

how many cfm does the s475 need?

.

I probably have 15,000 miles on a 24-50518 without issues! Harry at Peak Diesel has a 5x7x12 (green filter) made with stainless mesh that is really nice too.

I would have to agree with Jim. Mine has been on my set up for over a year and shows no signs of collapsing. Now the 12" filters used to suck in on the sides all the time. I think the 18" ones flow enough air that they are not restrictive enough to collapse. I guess if you left them get dirty enough they could.

anymore opinions on filters?

i thinking of altering my piping for an 18", just wondering if its worth it.

when i call the filter places, they act like 9" and 10" filters will flow enough.

Here is my preference list not taking in account the second battery ect, as with everything there is a give and take:

AFE 24-50518.............5 x 6 x 18
Green Filter from Peak..5 x 7 x 12
AFE regular blue filter...5 x 6 x 12

18's are real tight with a single but can be done, personally I would just do the green filter!
