my block heater doesn't work...not real sure if its the cord or the heater, but besides that, im living on OSU campus for the next three months and there is no place to plug it in anyway b/c i park on the street...

well it was b/n 5* - 8* this morning and it cranked pretty slow for about 4 secs, fired up and idled like dog poo for 3 sec, then idled normal

any suggestions?? b/c this cant be good on the truck...

Mine started the same way yesterday, it was 6* at the time. I agree, that cant be good for the trucks

Find you a woman with a house and shack up. She don't have to be pretty, just needs to have electricity.
If your too morally upstanding to use a woman for the health of your truck, just make sure the battery's are good.

Does your wait to start light come on?

yea it comes on...then about 10-15 secs later it goes off and i guess the grid heater clicks off, the pyro jumps up just past 300*, and then the battery gauge slowly rises to just past 8v

i have a woman already. she is back home though, so that idea is shot.

the batteries are fairly new. they were replaced in the spring of 08

i guess i can pray for warmer weather...its -3* !!!!! and with the wind up here its freaking killing me

where the fork is global warming? right now it seems to be hiding behind a sheet of ICE

*update*

just checked the weather...low tonight is -5*. but hey, by the following saturday there is a chance the sun might pop out and bring us low 30's

my truck starts fine when its in the 20-30's

both are off...

the edge b/c it doesnt turn on when its cold until u cycle the keys (i dont bother)

i never run with the redline on unless i know the pedal will be "stuck to the wood"

You weren't down here during the winter time though...it's actually nice...well Ocala still sucks.

Shoot, I bought 2 new batteries a hair over a year ago and I've had the passenger's side batter replaced TWICE since then. First one leaked 2nd one had a bad cell and I had the 2nd replaced about a month ago.

Maybe take the intake horn off before the you start the truck one morning, turn the key to the start position, jump out and see if that sucker is getting hot??

taking the intake horn off while the truck is parked on the street with 5" of snow on the hood and below zero temperatures it not something i had in mind :hehe:

besides, i dont have any tools up here with me

but now that i think about it...i had a run in with some ether a while back and disconnected the grid heater...maybe i didnt put the wires back?

cant figure out why the pyro would jump though if the grid heaters werent kicking on

maybe you hooked up your grid heater wires to your pyro??? LOL

Na, but on a serious note that is strange.

The cord that runs to the block comes unplugged from time to time. Check that. Ran into that problem once or twice. They fit kind of loose for some reason.
