I've always heard of the Blue Spring upgrade but I'm not really sure if I should do it, why it gets done, or when to do it. Could you guys help me out here and explain it would reallly be appreciated

It's an upgraded spring for the factory fuel regulator. It bumps the pressure up to around 65 psi. Helps injectors live longer.

It will not cure a weak feul pump.

I noticed no difference in performance but I guess it is a peace of mind.

IH has a more reasonably priced option than the Ford kit.

You can buy just the spring from Ford without the whole front piece of the regulator as well. Just look on ebay. My own theory was Ford kind of released this under the radar because their new fuel filter design was dropping fuel pressure. The new lower fuel filter is extended and has an o-ring to completely seal off the front end of the filter, thus forcing everything through that main filter. More filtration isn't bad, but why not let people know about the blue spring to combat against it. That's my theory anyways, they did come out around the same time.

Here's the Ford P/N for just the seal and the spring: 6E7Z-9C165-B Tousley has them for $39.

Here's the IH P/N for just the seal and spring: 1854267C94
