well, just got a 89 d250 for $1500. has the 5sp
getrag and 186k miles. couple of questions...
one of the injectors is leaking around the top of
it, right where the fuel line connects. is this
a fairly easy fix, as in just tightening it up ? also
has a pretty bad leak at the oil pan gasket on
the passenger side. tried to find some info on
replacing the gasket but got nadda. any info /
help would be greatly appreciated. believe this
truck has a 3k spring and is turned up a bit. makes
a good amount of smoke.

Loosen the injection line nut and then tighten it. If that doesn't stop the leak, swap it with another injector.
 
CHIT!!!! $1500? I woulda given $3000 easily!

Oil pan requires engine removal.

Again.....

DAMN!
 
found that the leak was from the oil return
line coming from the bottom of turbo to
the passenger side block. got the injector
tightened up. got the turbo and manifold
off, going to replace the manifold gaskets
this week.

Congrats on the truck. Its actually on of my old trucks I bought it from original owner around fort worth had it painted. It should have a 3800 gov spring denny t pin timing bumped fuel srew maxed. Unless the person you bought it from detuned it. Its a clean solid ole fird gen. I miss it alittle it was a good truck. Goodluck

hey , thanks for the info ! was wondering what was done to it. the guy
i bought if off of only had it for a few weeks from what he said. should
also have had the getrag rebuilt, new slave cylinder as well.

here is where the oil leak is / was. where the oil return line ( downtube )
is pressed into the block. there is a rubber hose that makes the
connection, seemed really lose and was really leaking bad. trying to
figure out a way to get it replaced. is there a hard line you can buy
that goes all the way from the turbo to the block without having to
have the soft hose ?

gauges are next for sure. i got the oil leak fixed, it was
the silicone hose that attaches to the down tube. have
a very small fuel leak somewhere on the top back end of
the pump. will be looking at that this week.

so if you take the pump off, you will have to bleed the
inection lines, anything else to worry about upon pump
removal ?
 

- Disconnect the battery.
- Make note of the current injection event timing mark on the side of the IP right there on the one mounting bolt flange and timing case. See image . . .

- Roll the engine over to TDC of cylinder #1 (Make sure you're actually there ;) ).
- On the side of the injection pump, next to the mounting bolt with the timing mark, there's a little fork-shaped washer under a bolt. See image . . .

- REMOVE that washer and tighten that bolt to 10ft/lbs.

Having done so, you have locked the IP in the #1 TDC position.

- Remove/Install the IP as needed aligning the timing mark.
- Reinstall the forked washer to unlock the IP.

With removing the IP for any reason, you'll need to burp the high pressure fuel lines at the injectors when you're done. ;)

thanks for that info !

think we found the fuel leak, its coming from
the seal where the t pin is seated i think. also,
the boost tube is disconnected, need to get
that back tight as well.
