Well I finally got me a 2000 jetta tdi bout a month ago. Wanted one awhile and sold a couple trucks so went and got me one. 2000 5 speed 178k all stock. Plan to do timing belt before. Told it was done at 100k. Been doing a lot of research on performance stuff. I'd like to make 200 hp but not sure how well the stock bottom end would hold. Going to fab my own 3" exhaust from a universal kit I bought. Also got a buzzken egr delete to put on. Thinking I might do nozzles next. Not sure what the biggest I can get is that will work well. Not really concerned with how smokey they are. I'm used to controlling smoke with my right foot anyways in my trucks. Figure il have to do a clutch. And a turbo of some sorts. And get it tuned. Looks are getting upgraded too. Race land coil overs most likely and a set of 18" black wheels.

put some new headlights in it. Window tint soon too.

EGR delete should be your #1 priority. Pics off my 01 with maybe 80k miles. Depending what timing belt they replaced it with, it "should" be good for 150k miles. Of course if in doubt change it. You can usually find somebody selling the tools on tdiclub or similar.

Yea I've got the delete just haven't had time to put it on yet. Notice power and mileage gain after you deleted and clean intake?

I really didn't notice much if any mileage difference. However I upgraded the turbo, and added a tune at the same time. Really enjoyed that car, kind of wish I had kept it.

It did running against all the restriction in the intake. Damn good thing it gave up relatively close to home. Hellova boom, and of course it was working on draining the oil pan after the failure. Target had quite the oil puddle in their parking lot.

They are fun little cars to mod! I had a 98 Jetta with nozzles, tune, egr delete, and a straight pipe. Here's a dyno video of it... Please excuse my ex's commentary...she never knew when to keep her mouth shut.:blahblah1:

I switched jobs and lucked into a 2002 Golf also that I'm getting ready to mod. It already has a straight exhaust and came with a tune already in the ECM. I am having issues with sticky VGT vanes right now need to do the over cleaner trick and PRAY I don't have to pull the turbo and clean it! I may go all out on this one eventually and with nozzles and a tune. I picked it up really cheap with a newly rebuilt inj. pump, but I've always wanted a '03 Jetta Wagon 5spd.

Sweet. What size nozzles did you run in the 98? What kinda power it make on the dyno?

Your going to get the TDI bug... They are cheap to build... You will need rods at 200hp. They tend to bend... Luckily they are 500 for h beams. Not outrageous like Cummins parts LOL

Enjoy it!!! I love mine!!

I still have to do an exhaust and some custom tuning to get the extra 15 to 30 hp out of this motor.

Sweet vids swole. I bought my egr delete from aaRodriguez seem like good people to deal with. The injectors you're running are they the 5 hole or the 7 hole nozzles?

I'm getting ready to run around a 5x.018 injector in my new engine with an 11mm IP.. Your safe to about 200hp

I'd like to make as close to 200 as I can. And that's a pretty large injector. What kinda power you plan to make.

200hp is the edge of safe zone with a slow charger. I think 5x018s would do over 400 pretty easy with enough turbo or spray. I played it safe and went 5x.022s.

Suddenly my 163 seems inadequate! lol
And that was probably a generous dyno.

:(

Dang I know right. Yall stop showing me all this. I got trucks to build this stupid car is sposed to be a daily. Now I want to build it out the a$$ too.
