break in with iron giant

i know people say this all the time but sbc is great.
A customer that works for me part time killed a 3600# DD by forgetting to put the truck in low range before hooking (5th gear high range is not recommended for sled pulling he tried twice):bang I sent the clutch out Monday of this week and had it back redone and upgraded on Wednesday. UPS even got it here in time to have him running by the end of the day.

South Bend Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats a lot of gear right there! I've managed around a 1/2 dozen 4th gear launches (nv5600) on the street and this 3600 southbend still isn't slipping a year later. 2 1/2 years total and plenty of abuse and its still holding.

the clutch would have held on the street doing high gear launches but the 40000 pound sled changed things a little.

do you guys shift your dual disks with the clutch or float them.. I have a enterprise DD and it needs to be floated .. holds well just can't shift it too fast due to floating them etc... not sure if its the way it is or the hydraulics need to be upgraded.. its a nv4500 with ford sd stock hydraulics.
thanks

ive never broken in a sbdd. install it. hold the smoke switch to the floor and just start comin of the clutch until your charger starts to get lit good then drop it from there. dont watch rpms just listen to your charger, sounds will tell you more about anything than gauges. also your high pedal release is all in where you have the adjustment in your clutch pedal set. you can adjust this on the pedal slightly

What is there to break in? The only break in mine gets is backing out the driveway.LOL It will seat as soon as you start to let out on the clutch when hooked to the sled i will garaundamntee it.

Bye the way, thats not a pullin clutch, but this one is.

My Valair 3800 only had about 500 easy miles on it before the pull. Let's just say it drove a LOT easier on the way home. The sled will break it in for you.
