Building a wiring harness, any advise?

I bought a harness to go along with my used pump, but the harness has been having issues (check out what it did to the fuse holder) The pump hasn't missed a beat it the almost two years I've been running it, often running it constantly for 10hrs. I can't say the same for the crappy "heavy duty" harness I got, doesn't blow the fuses just melts the connectors. :bang

So I need to build a better harness to keep this pump happy.
1) How big of a relay is needed? I assume 30amps is plenty?
2) Would a constant duty solenoid work better than a relay?
3) How large of wires do I need?
4) Any other things that I need to do to make sure it remains problem free?

:thankyou2:

Oh yea...30 Amps is MORE than enough

Not really, The 30 amp relay is plenty and takes up a little less room
3) How large of wires do I need?
10-12 Gauge is fine.

Make sure to use a 30 amp fuse as well. Make sure all your connections are weather proof and tight.

:thankyou2:

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
