I am in the process of setting my 24v up to run the street diesel class. I have several mods on it now, but am not sure if im on the right track or not. Im just looking for help and advice as to what to do.

AS of right now, im stiffening up my hitch and building a hook. I am also building removable stop bars into the hitch. With those 2 on and done, im getting a Road Armor bumper and building a bracket for it.

what things are left, either suspension or motor?

I saw Hay Hauler Express at Eaton this passed weekend, and plan on making a blocking set up for the rear very similar to his.

id skip the road armor bumper most street classes wont let you run with those big bumpers on the truck. some let you hang weight some dont. if you allowed to hang weight id get a front reciver and build a weight bracket. as far as the truck what trans and rear gears do you have?

Don't hook the D70. What street class you running? 2.6?? Get ready to start forking out the money, driveshafts, lockers, tranny, etc, etc.

Yeah that Dana 70 wont last long, and for a 24v i'd get a redline and a EZ stack for electronics

The D70 is tuffer than you think I have raced for 5 years and sled pulled for 3years and its a daily driver but yes you are right after racing and pulling and towing since I bought the truck new (its an 2002) the D70 cratered and I had to do a total rebuild. James:Cheer:

Why waste your money on the D70. Not to offend you, but if you got 3 years out of a 70 sled pulling your not putting nearly enough power to the ground.

Guessing you have a manual.. "smoked Luk clutch" in your sig... Get a good dual disk with the bigger input shaft, should be a good start.. maybe some drive line shields.. some places might require them... If you have manual you should have the D80..
Like you said.. get the hitch, bars and blocks build.. build adjustable blocks.. some places will have different requirements.. no travel.. 1in.. no block..
Start pulling.. you'll find the weak link...
Oh.. and have fun...

I have NV4500 5 speed, Dana 80w. LS, 3.55 gears...

I have already shattered my extension housing, I am planning on getting a cast iron one as soon as that one bites the dust again.

Is there a good place to buy the driveshaft loops, opr build my own?

i was thinking about the redline, but got the adrenaline instead- i was told it would be adjustable on all levels soon.... well see.

also are my 3.55's going to be enough to pull? its a fast truck, but i think theyre going to leave me in the torque section..... I was thinking get like 410 or 456 , rear spool, front tru trac and roll.

im working on ladder bars this weekend or atleast getting ready to.

for hitches, if i reinforce my hitch enough will it hold up, or should i look into getting something bigger?

What class? If you put gears in it go for 4.88's maybe 4.63(you can't get a 4.56 D80) A dd clutch. If you drop the gears you might be able to survive with the stock driveshafts. Might as well weight until you can afford good axles also. Be a bad deal to put in a locker in the rear and then trash it when an axle breaks. Reinforce your hitch. Getblown5.9 put some pics of his reinforcement. I have had those reinforcements on my truck and have 2+ years on it with no issue. Just be ready to start dumpin coin in your truck. You gonna pull in the 2.8 class?

not sure what class, i havent checked my turbo....

will i have any probs with penion size on 88's? i know they get small they start to snap.

Im still looking into clutches... i was offerd a Crowler comp clutch 4 1400 new from Wooster this weekend at Eaton.... I want a Haisley comp but dont like the price yet.

quick ?, whats easiest way to measure my turbo? mic the inside right before compressor wheel?

Lots of guys run the 4.88's the diamater of the gear on the pinion will not present a problel, they typically break elsewhere. You need to remember as you get a smaller diameter pinion gear the torque it has to deal with goes down.

Haisley street puller would suite you well. The Comp puller is a weighted clutch. Kinda desighned for the guys turning big RPMS.

LOL no offence taken but the class points leader 2 years running says that I am puttin the power to the ground :Cheer: I do like the D70 I would have gone to an D80 but funds wouldnt alow it this year it is hopefully the dynatrac kit and a locker but we will see as we are not allowed to run weights I am needing some more help James:Cheer:

I took a gander at my turbo and believe it to be a 2.8. I might be swappingit for something nastier and easier and quicker to spool.

I looking into building a weight bracket and fix my hitch so that part will be done.

Would a weighted clutch hurt me if im only hitting stock RPM?" also is there a cheaper way to bump my rpm to 4K withot the redline?

shoot me some openions if my mods motor wise are a good start, or if im completely off or what else would help. my main problem so far has been my clutch, im wanting something i wont have to replace any sooner then6 months!

A 2.8 is a pretty good sized charger. I would remeasure it and not say about.

I guess I am saying if your getting serious with a 2.6 or higher charger, a D70 will not hold up long at 600HP to a track with any kind of bite. It is the pinions that are weak. Seen way to many of them snap to be convinced otherwise. Now running on a sand track or a mud track they will hold up just find. I know guys that are still running stock D80 axles with no issues, but they are in areas that have little clay content and/or lots of sand.
