Cam sensor?

Worked on a 99 the other day and it had a sensor on the cam (12V timing pin place) same place my were my 01' is at.

The 98.5-00's have a cam and crank sensor as where the 01-02's only have a cam sensor. Cam sensor is in the same location 98.5-02 but for the 98.5-00 trucks if a ppump swap is done only the crank sensor needs to be reained to have functioning gauges, charging system to work etc. Then guys are just covering the hole for the cam sensor. At least that was my take on all of the previous posts.
 
Thats correct. I beleive the cam sensor is only related to the vp and nothing else. It doesnt directly bolt into a 12v timing case, so i just left the timing pin in and the cam sensor will just get tucked away and zip tied up.
