Since i have to pull the front clip i may as well install a cam since im in there. Ive looked at hamilton diesels cam i think it was a big stick, it was 575 for a billet one. Ive also looked at Colt cams maybe the stage 2 or the stage 3 (bigstick) Now a regrind in either of those 2 cams are 400.

So tell me do i need to get a billet or can i swing the regrind? Im assuming a billet one is for high rpms. Also which one would be better for the street? Im looking to get a SOLID 500hp out of this truck. I would think the big stick would be something i can grow into but again the stage 2 colt cam looks plenty for me. Please enlighten me:thankyou2:

You really don't need a cam at all for 500HP. Stock cam will do it no problem.

TONS of cam threads on here clayton.

go to hamiltons website, or hamiltons sponsor section TONS of information.

and youll be dissapointed in results of a cam imho. 500 is halfway to a turbo which would make a night and day difference

efficient on a stock turbo?

:umno:

Let me give you a little more info. Im taking the front clip off, i was gonna do a cam down the road eventually. While im in there i may as well do the cam so i dont have to pull the front clip again.

you already gave that info. its still money that could be put towards something that will make a difference.

And more labor that i would have to do down the road. That i dont want to do. I think ill just call Colt, and Hamilton and see what they recommend.

yea if your looking for 500 then it is not needed. prolly would notice no difference maybe port the head also for better spool up, then you could notice something. look into the killer b from Bill Fletcher

Most likely i will go with a HD cam since they are close to me. But i still havent really found a solid answer on why a billet one is better.

Can we just lock this thread? This site has enough camshaft threads.

Ya there is plenty but, ive been looking and most of them just are derailed by the different companys turning it into a pissing match.

Whatever, ill just get a solid answer out of HD and Colt. Since somebody cant give me there opinion.

its not actually made out of billet. iirc thats just what they call the cams that start out as a blank and not a regrind.

we have given you an opinion, but its never good enough. a solid 500 hp truck doesnt need a cam, hell a solid 600 hp vp truck doesnt need one to be daily driven. but they dont need hrvp's either. so your gonna have a cam and hrvp on tiny injectors and a stock turbo?

We did, save your money and get a turbo...

I think you missed a cam company that's close to you as well.

I asked about a cam not what to do next.

I know they dont need hrvps but i got a good deal on it.

O you forgot i have a adrenaline as well. Throw that in there with the cam, hrvp, and tiny injectors:hehe:

i agree with everyone else a cam for your goal is and (should not) be thought about but since your in there and want to spend the money i think a regrind is great you can call colt and he will say the say thing a billet is over rated in my option, a regrind done right and treated is just as good i would think. I know you Clay your like robert and me you say 500 o wait 600 wait 700hp is all i want its the name of the game and i am sure alot of guys on here can say the same thing, that they wanted alot less than they have now when they first started out in this game
