So...to be a smart arse...
Would my 04 pistons be even better....over the last 7 years/200k they have had tens of thousands of heat treat cycles? Better with age...hehe!
Marine gaskets work great....625's and goood orings will last a long time.
I believe that there may be a difference between heat treating and heat stress. :hehe: Most of the QSB pistons we've sold went to the 04.5 + group. Just by looking at the minimal difference in prices between automotive and marine piston, and the fact that the marines are 30% stronger it was a no brainier decision to go with them. 03-04 pistons are not so prone to melt down as the open bowl design in later years, but if I ever rebuild my 03 I'm going with the boat pistons.
