Can someone clarify the u-joint shields? I can read, it says mandatory, but everywhere else is "visible" u-joints and I haven't seen many Duramax trucks with rear output yoke or anything on the front. Don't want to spend the time/$ if I don't have too. I have a loop and rear shield currently.

Just take the time and $ and do them all. You will not regret it anytime you break something. I need to get a loop on the front shaft and a shield on the output for the front shaft but I have a shield on the input of the front diff. my loops saved a lot of stuff last year when I broke my driveshaft and twisted my rear diff. All you have to do is leave them on once they are done. mine are on my truck all year round.
