Does any one know how to check if the oil bypass is working properly iv herd of checking the pressure at the filter... where would I install the gauge? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated I'm new to a cummins... always drove a 7.3. .....

Where the oil feed line comes out above the filter there's a small plug you can remove, it's 1/8 th pipe thread, hook a direct gauge up there. By-pass should allow no more than 65 psi.
