china turbo

If you really did that I hope it takes out something else when it goes.

Try running without an intercooler...

why would you buy a chinese turbo...if you need a replacement and don't have money for a real turbo, then A. save your money until you have enough for the turbo or turbo(s) that are the right size to do the job. or B. don't buy something you can't afford.

there's a great thread on the other forum about these turbos... some dude bought one as a stock replacement and is all happy that it's been holding up great at 25psi

A buddy of mine bought one and its been holdin up good for the abuse he gives it 40psi all the time.I am still waitin for it to go but it has not yet he has had it for over a year.

why not. i don't need it, i just want to see what they are all about for the hell of it. might as well, it aint gonna mess nothing up even if it breaks anyway.

I wish I could tell you I made this thread up to be an ass.

I wish I could tell you that is all a dream.

I wish I could tell you this link does not contain a 18 page thread on your question.

http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98-5-02-performance-parts-discussion/295356-generic-hx-35-40-hybrid-turbo-install.html

I wish I could tell you I had faith in people after reading that.

that's pretty funny that guy took all them huge pictures.

meh, i figure it will be alright till it breaks can't be that bad.

The same "company" makes an hx40 version too. I actually have one sitting here in the shop. Customer took it in on trade because he was told it was a SPS64 from Industrial Injection. He doesn't know a whole lot about them so he brought it here for me to look at. I opened the box and see that its far from what it was supposed to be.

I don't know that I would feel comfortable using one on my truck, but I do know a guy that bought a new hx40 from EMUSA to build a twin set with. He made mid 500hp on a VP truck running the EMUSA hx40 and a HT3B.

You talking about Amore?

We all keep whining about all our jobs going to china but we keep buying the crap. Some things we don't have a choice anymore but some things we still do.

if this was directed to me i read that thread, and i think it it was pretty funny. 25psi lol i was pushing my poor stock turbo to 40psi with a blown intercooler and with a good intercooler i pushed it to 55-60 and it held this abuse for 6 months only reason it broke was because i barked the hell out of it while overspeeding it with no wastegate....several times. i'd like to see a china turbo do that....with a 130,000 miles on it too, and put down 458/1075

oh really? when i grenaded my turbo it took out my intercooler, so I changed my oil to see what i would find in that, and with a magnet i found pieces of the compressor wheel that was torn up. so it actually could take out your whole motor, depends on how and where it breaks, mine the shaft snapped.

If they were honestly a good turbo there would be tons of guys running them. Oh yeah and did you see the guy with the PVC intake tube??? You have gotta be kidding me!!!

That's exactly why I said what I did. It's stupid to risk an engine to see how long a knockoff turbo will last. I believe stupidity should hurt.

well we'll see how ol' mr. china turbo does. My old heap 2002 is stock so it will probably be alright for a little bit, we'll see though.
