Putting a sb dd in my 3/4 ton. Just got a couple questions...

Blue loc-tite, red loc-,tite or ???? For flywheel bolts

And the same for the pressure plate.

Thanks.

Help me out here... I remember reading somewhere about a washer needed to be taken out for clearance... What washer was it????

On the clutch fork, the opposing side to the slave cylinder...

Wow am i a retard.... Figured out where i read it....right on the phucking clutch fork..... Smh

another tip: file any burrs off of the clutch hub splines and the input shaft splines, then lubricate the input shaft with graphite. (no not use any kind of grease or wet lubricant, graphite is a dry lubricant that will not sling off or attract dirt/dust)

the graphite will help make it go into gear easier and shift quicker.

basically reducing the friction on the input shaft?

yes, the lubrication helps the discs slide out of the way when the clutch is depressed.

without it, double discs are notorious for hanging up a bit causing much slower shifts and trouble trying to get in and out of gear because the truck is still slightly pulling due to a disc hanging up between the center plate and the flywheel. you want them to slide on the input shaft as freely as possible to ensure quicker disengages and shifts.

how bout that... good to know for future reference. I'll be sure to make sure i have a little file for tomorrow night when i go to put it all together

After working on it for a couple days after work, finding stuff that is junk because of it's age n having to wait to get parts cuz it was 10 o'clock at night, and a couple 12 packs, i got er wrapped up this morning.

Thanks for the help!

Okay guys, took about a 45 minute trip south to.Butler, got into town, the traffic became stop and go. Started to smell that awful clutch smell that we all know... Is this normal? I can't think that it is.....i didnt slip the clutch at all.

Need some input asap. it'll be parked for about an hour.

:banghead:

You shouldn't be smelling clutch for normal driving, or stop and go. Well i never have in my trucks. Any issues that now your second guessing during the install. I saw you asked about the washer behind the pivot ball, you did remove it right?

Something else that i noticed was it doesnt make the rattle sound that every other dd clutch ive heard. Could it be that its not fully disengaging?

i could be wrong, but you shouldn't be smelling clutch in just stop and go unless your pulling out in high gear, but I'm pretty sure you know how to drive. good luck tho buddy!
