Clutch Time! (again)

I broke my stock input in half running a 3250 12cb. Peter hooked me up with a new clutch & didn't charge me to upgrade to 3600 12cb with 1 3/8 shaft size. After installing the 3600, I felt no difference in pedal pressure at all. I actually called Peter thinking he must have made a mistake & sent me a 3250....No mistake.

Seems like most folks are running the 3250.. Didn't want to upgrade the hydraulics? Man.. I just need to pull the damn trigger and get this over with. I hate researching crap like this for days on end without coming up with a definite answer.

Get the 3600, trust me. I wouldn't consider a 3250 after my results.

You just became the exact person I wanted to talk to! Thanks for chiming in!

Back to back, any driveability difference between the 3250 and the 3600? Having owned both now.. If you had to replace the clutch again (for free) which would you go with?

Same questions about.. Easy engagement? No chatter? Start in 2nd on hills? Back up trailers?

Thanks again!

Okay, we are 2 seconds in front and behind eachother.. you just answered that question. :)

You rock sir. Thanks for the insight!

0 sled pulling planned.

Some drag racing. HARD street driving. (As in, banging through the gears as though I was drag racing).

Some light towing (under 15k).

Get the 3600 12cb. My experiences are that it shifts the same, same pedal pressure, same noise, stronger, handles abuse better.

What where you running before it?
Spec V and I have had a FE, both similar
Does it chatter a bunch at takeoff?
No, it chatters a little at idle but you can't barely hear it!
Can you comfortably start out in second gear? Could you do 3rd if you had to?
Yes, and Yes!
How does it do on hills from a stop? It's smoother than a FE

Have you towed? Backing up?
I towed yesterday, and it did well, it was a 100 times smoother than a FE, and it can be a little grabby but again nothing like the FE
Pedal pressure and hydraulics don't concern me.. A little less chatter when I take off from a stop would be good. I'd rather have a little too much clutch than not enough for sure though.

I like it alot so far but i only have a couple hundred miles on it

my 3250 showed up the other day i will be puttin it in soon ill let u know how it works out

Cool. I'm going with the 3600 12cb. I should order early next week.

Thanks for the help everyone. I do appreciate it!

I had a 3600 and ran it for 3yrs and at times thrashed on it with no problems, add a fluid damper and really enjoy. And although noone acknowledged the 3200 Triple disk it is a awsome clutch and is quieter and as smooth and as easy to shift as a double disk.

Late response for lack of reading the thread, but you are making the correct choice. I've installed and drove the 3250 in two different trucks. One setup for pulling, and one for the street with twins for basically what you've described. Not going to go wrong with it, but I just took out my 3600 after about two years of hard street playing and 26 hooks with 33" tires, 3.54 gears, in 2nd high range. It was the BEST clutch I have owned/drove for all around performance. I now have the 3850 and regret it. It is not horrible shifting, but nothing compared to the 3600. All but one 3250 were for sure 12 CB. Don't remember how many the street truck had. I truly believe you will be pleased with your choice. I think the 3600 gets overlooked by a lot of people that jump either from the 3250 to the 3850, and doesn't get the credit it deserves.

Got the clutch installed yesterday.

I cannot say enough good things about it.

Going from an old school 6cb street drag to this clutch is like night and day.

Pedal pressure is WAY down. Very, very noticable. (I do have the upgraded hydraulics).

There is NO chatter leaving from a stop. The truck doesn't buck and kick like it used to.

0 noise at idle. 0 noise with the clutch pedal pushed in.

I've not driven a 3250. But, I wouldn't even consider dropping down to improve a little pedal pressure. This was the right decision. Thank you to everyone who helped me make it!

i just put in my scb 3600 12 cb in my truck and it makes a terrible noise like a fork getting thrown into a garbage disposal, and i know its not the normal dual disk rattle, im thinking its the starter being too close to the flywheel anyways make sure you get a starter spacer with it because im real un happy as of this point and i really am dreading pulling everything back appart if i have to

I knew you'd like it.

Did you pull the washer out from behind the ball for the shift fork?

Did you put the fork in backwards (wrong side toward the pivot ball?)

Just sounds like something isn't right in there.. The Haisley dual disk I was running was quiet.. I didn't hear it hardly at all. But, this one is even more quiet. There is 0 noise what-so-ever.
