Cometic MLX head gasket

anyone used the Cometic MLX head gasket in the last 2-3 years? i hear a couple of horror stories back in 2017-2018 for these gasket. my machinist offered me the cometic MLX gasket when i call him for doing oring on my head. a little coolant goes in the oil, so i will do my head gasket this winter.
alrealy have gator head stud that i install 1 by 1 , 2 years ago on stock head gasket( never lifted the head on that engine)
oring job is like 4-500$

MLX gasket is like 250-300$.

will never put compound on the truck, will stay with 64mm charger with 68mm turbine and .80(14cm) housing

Nothing I’ve seen would make me think it’s worth it to try nor do I think there would be any advantage. Definitely not worth saving $2-300.

oring are 500$, shipping is 200$ each way,

engine shop in my town will do head test/ magnaflux ,etc but no orings

yep it does!! that's why i want to try the cometic MLX, but there are horor stories back in 2017 on these... maybe will be good with only fresh OEM head gasket and studs, i alrealy have a .020 gasket on the shelf here
 
I’ve yet to hear of anyone running the mlx with success on a 12v. It would be my last option out of everything you listed.
 
LinCo Diesel performance always use cometic MLX gasket when the setup dont need fire rings. they don't do oring anymore. they said it work better than oring and oem head gasket on a 12v. they said they like smooth finish 10-55 Ra and make sure the machine shop use CBN. they never had an issue with a bloc yet.
 
I tried the cometic gasket with studs in an attempt to avoid o-rings with no luck. It spit one of the layers right out the back of the engine. She's been o-ringed with a .020" marine gasket ever since with zero issues. Do it right the first time, you get what you pay for, etc. Take your pick!
 
I was running a sps66 at the time with the boost adjusted as low as I could get it at ~55psi.
 
24v, normally ran timing pretty aggressive but I knocked it back for the new gasket; it blew before I cranked it back up, ARP425's and the block deck was beautiful. BTW-Does this new forum format not accommodate signatures?(I had all of that info plus more in mine).

only on computer i think.. i dont see any signature on my phone.

my stock head gasket with gator studs put one by one (2 years ago) just let go between coolant jacket and exhaust pushrod hole on #6 cyl. putting collant in my oil.

will try the MLX gasket. will buy the new SX-R 64mm Borg Warner with 68mm exhaust wheel paired with .80(14cm) turbine housing. i don't plan to do compound in the near future.
 
ya for sure!! after the winter, maybe in may, if im able to source one in canada, its b/o everywhere in canada!
 
finally head gasket was good. ( head was crack under exhaust valve spring on number 3-4-5)so i think i will just put cummins head gasket with studs!
