confusing us all!!!! please help
a buddy noticed today that my yoke looks like it is worn out and the caps are spinning on it even with the straps tightened down
Well that sounds like the problem (or part of it) to me.... The caps should be nice and tight. If you can spin them by hand imagine what its doin at 65mph. Might try some new straps and a yoke if it has play in it... Because if the vibration goes away with the driveshaft that makes me think driveshaft.... I'd start with the cheapest first.$.02 -Mike

no the truck is stock as far as suspension goes it does not even have a leveling kit on it. as far as the front drive shaft goes i just had the machine shop here rebuild it yesterday and they are the best around. so that part of the equation is out now.

My bro-in-law just went through this. A new front drive shaft fixed it FWIW.

And another piece of info....a 2002 dodge HAS a CAD front axle...unless mine is a unicorn.

my truck is an 02 and a half and i know my front axle is different then my buddies who has an early 02 so im not sure about the cad thing

I've heard the argument before and am not sure if there is an "early" and "late" 02, but apparently there is. Glad I got an early. :D

My 02 is CAD-less but I don't remember the date of manufacture. Probably later in the cycle though.

So are the caps still loose though? If the caps are still movin around the most perfect driveline in the world would vibrate.....

no with the new poke , straps, and rebuilt shaft they wont be. work is crazy tomorrow so saturday or monday i will put it all together and keep you all posted on what the results are.
